The Cricket Writers' Club, with funding from M5 Sports Management, will provide opportunitites for underprivileged aspiring cricket journalists

We are proud to announce the establishment of a new bursary designed to promote inclusion and diversity within our industry.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of The M5 Sports Management Group, we will be able to support young journalists who wouldn’t otherwise be able to take-up work experience opportunities in our industry.

Specifically, we aim to provide travel expenses or other costs as required. We may also, where appropriate, provide a wage.

We have named this bursary in memory of Bethan James, who was a journalism student at the time of her tragic death, aged 21, in February 2020. She was also the daughter of our friend and colleague, Steve James. He and his family support the idea.

Rory Dollard, head of our new Inclusion sub-committee, will run this scheme. If you are in a position of influence at your organisation and think you could provide work experience to someone suitable, please let us know.

Equally, if you would like to take advantage of this opportunity – or know somebody who might – do, please, get in touch with Rory:
