WORCESTER

DIRECTIONS: (Satnav - WR2 4QQ) New Road is located just over the bridge from the city centre.

CAR PARKING: Though there are no designated spaces at New Road for the media, you will have no problem parking for championship games. For some limited-overs games it is best to arrive early.

FACILITIES: The press box, in terms of viewing, leaves a lot to be desired. There are only six to seven places with an unobstructed view for the written media. The broadcasting media are better off, with a designated BBC box inside the confines of the press box for BBC national radio and another one for BBC local radio with unobstructed views. A new press box forms part of 'Phase 3' of the Graeme Hick Pavilion / View / Premier Inn development. Phase 3 is planned to start in 2016, although it is still to be finalised. Worcester City Council want to raise the height of the road outside New Road. This is because of the floods and obviously impacts on those plans. The media/press contact is Carrie Lloyd, who can be contacted on 01905 337922 / 07795 685285 and at carrie.lloyd@wccc.co.uk. A good club to deal with, but let down by the poor view from the press box. The new Graeme Hick pavilion is spacious and offers excellent views of the ground and Cathedral. The club do try to look after you. Lunch is provided (fill in a menu before noon) while there is a free drinks machine in the box and fruit and biscuits are provided every day. A visit to the Ladies Pavilion for afternoon tea and cake is a must and not to be missed - only one day in four, otherwise you will have to jog round the ground the next couple of days!

ACCOMMODATION: The 120-room Premier Inn is now open and fully operational, but if it's fully booked try the The Diglis Hotel on the river or the Hilton at Puckrup Hall, which also has a good golf course on site, near the M50.

LEISURE: Brown's Restaurant by the Bridge is a must if your Ex's allow. The Cheese Board is to die for. Worcester Rugby Club Bar is good too.
